Matthew 16:26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the
whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for
his soul?"
So often I find myself looking
for ways to please man or make others happy and I don't even fully realize I am
doing it; I think that's the scariest part of it all. We, as a society, put so
much emphasis on this world and what it has to offer and making ourselves and
others happy. But we are here for one purpose and one purpose ONLY- to bring
glory and honor to our Lord and Savior- Jesus Christ. We are to be lights for
His name and make disciples for Him. It is so much easier said than done,
believe me- I KNOW. It is so much easier to follow the crowd and give in to
societal pressures and normalities, but we weren't called to live an easy life.
God never told us it would be easy- in fact, He said the opposite in John 16:33
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the
world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the
world."
This world is but a fading
moment. Our time on this earth is limited, but an eternity with God is on the
line. Not only for you, but for everyone. Ultimately, by not sharing God's Word
with others is being selfish and only harming them. It is your responsibility.
It is mine. If you know the truth and you know what can save your neighbor an
eternity of misery, why wouldn't you share it with them? Is one moment of
sharing the good news with someone really so hard that it is worth the cost
of their life? It may be awkward. It may be uncomfortable. But it may
save someone's life. Don't let your fear get in the way of someone else's
eternity. Let God use you in ways you never thought possible.
This week- I challenge you to
step out of your comfort zone. Maybe it just means asking someone if you can
pray for them or offering someone a kind word or sharing a verse. You don't
have to share the entire gospel to make a difference. Just ask the Holy Spirit
for guidance and He will give it you. Just listen and don't let fear stand in
your way. I know God is going to use you in unimaginable ways- you just have to
let Him. Give Him total control. You, and I would be nothing without Him. Let us never forget that.
Mark 16:15 "And he said to
them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'"
Isaiah 42:16 "And I will
lead the blind in a way that they do no know, in paths that they have not known
I will guide them. I will turn darkness before them into light, the rough
places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake
them."
